Our Story

Hello, and Welcome to Bottimals™!

I am sure many of you reading this can relate to that first outing as a mom post-partum. Some excitement to have a moment to feel like yourself, but with a bit of trepidation about being away from your baby for the first time. For me, it was a hair appointment. And one day, I’ll tell my son about how I frantically left that appointment with dripping wet hair because a panicked call from his dad warranted me coming home right away – the baby was hungry and refused to take a bottle. He would gag and scream even at the sight of it, despite trying every brand of “breast-to-bottle” solution we could find. This problem brought chaos to our household and for months, I was unable to leave him with my husband or another caregiver.

When I brought this problem to the attention of his doctor, he recommended that I should refuse to breastfeed him until he was hungry enough to accept a bottle. As a mom, I knew there had to be another way. Leaning in to my degree in biology and 13-year career in clinical trial research, I conducted my own research. I found that it was a global phenomenon called bottle refusal, which impacts millions of babies each year. It’s also the topic of blogs, forums, clinical trial research studies and hilarious TikTok videos with suggested solutions that seem extreme, like dads taping photos of mom to their faces.

As a mom I recognized the problem, and as a research professional, I set out to create a solution. I designed and developed the Bottimals™ bottle-lovey to take babies from bottle refusal to bottle bliss. Mom’s scent has been scientifically proven to have extraordinary benefits on the health of the baby (visit “The Science” page to learn more!). We hope that the Bottimals™ bottle-lovey becomes your favorite product to make your feeding journey smoother for the whole family.

Take care,
Julianne
